The desire and urge to spread higher education among rural students, particularly among girls of the locality, make Madhabilata Debi, wife of Saradacharan Chattopadhyay, ex-zamindar of Udaynarayanpur, a true patron of education. In order to materialise her wish a reality daughters and son of Madhabilata Debi gave their full moral and financial support for establishing an undergraduate college in her name in Udaynarayanpur. Indeed, it is a great privilege to this college now where about seventy percent of all students are girls coming from the nearby villages and the institution is truly indebted for being able to work for spreading higher education among the women of the society.
